A Journey of love and experience
Our head trainer, Barbara Deg, has over 20 years as a pet professional. Barb graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College as an Animal Health Technologist which started her long career in animal wellness. As such, Barb has a passion for cooperative care in the veterinary setting as well as for husbandry at home.
At Front N’Scenter, we believe that mental health and physcial health are thoroughly integrated. We treat each pet as an individual. Emotional wellness of your pet takes priortity in all of our dog training, scent detection, and behaviour modification programs.
Barb shares her home with her greatest teachers, her 4 legged, as well as feathered, familiy members. Her own pets keep her honest about what is really important in animal training.
Barb holds credentials with the IAABC as a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and is the current president of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, is a Certified Separation Trainer, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowlege Assessed, and is an Elite Fear Free Certified Professional.
Fyrefly
Narvin's Serendipity
Born May 12, 2025, Fyrefly was originally destined to become a field trial dog with her breeder. The world changed suddenly in July and we, at Front N’Scenter, found ourselves without a teaching dog.
Things fell into place quickly, and Fyrefly joined us at the end of July. She is quickly learning the ropes in scent, reading body language of other dogs, and we hope that she will have a future as a service dog.
Marty McFly
Quantonas Reasonable Doubt
Born to be a field trial dog, and living the life of a bird dog, Marty decided that he would prefer a warm sofa to the busy field trial circle.
We were missing having a started gun dog around and needed a slightly more mature dog to help with dogs in our care learning to cope with other dogs, so Marty joined us in September 2025.
His kind nature has won over many people and dogs.
On the field side of things, he is learning to navigate the grouse woods and is loving every minute of it.
